The 130 Congress members in charge of the legislation, monitoring, and national representation for the 2020-2021 term were sworn in and took office in Peru on Monday.
Led by Preparatory Board legislators Monica Saavedra, Enrique Fernandez and Maria Isabel Bartolo, the oath-taking ceremony was held at Lima-based Parliament headquarters.
According to the program, the Board of Congress for the new term will be elected later on tonight.
Prior to the start of today's ceremony, health authorities were inside the Congress building to verify the health measures aimed at facing the coronavirus (COVID-19) presence in the South American country.
