President Vizcarra asks Peruvians to support the national team

17:39 | Lima, May. 29.

President Martin Vizcarra on Tuesday encouraged all Peruvians to support the national soccer team, which will face Scotland in Lima tonight as preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia.

According to the Head of State, the squad has taught the Inca country that if citizens join efforts with a common objective, they will be able to achieve their most ambitious goals.

It must be noted this game will mark the Inca team's farewell to the South American country before heading for Europe to play its last two friendlies. Within this framework, it will face Saudi Arabia in Switzerland (June 3) and host-team Sweden (June 9).

As is known, the national team qualified for the FIFA World Cup after 36 years. Peru is placed in Group C, along with France, Denmark, and Australia.

The red-white squad's first match will be played against Denmark (June 16). Then, the Incas will clash with France (June 21) before facing Australia (June 26).
