The Permanent Commission of Congress approved a 10-year disqualification from holding public office for former Prime Minister Betssy Chavez due to her involvement in the coup attempt on December 7, 2022.

The second conclusion of the final report on constitutional complaints 547 and 575 was approved with 17 votes in favor, 6 against, and none abstaining.

The report recommended accusing and disqualifying Chavez from holding public office in her capacity as former Prime Minister.

In the case of former President Pedro Castillo and former Interior Minister Willy Huerta, who are also included in the report, the session was rescheduled to listen to their defense at the request of the accused.

The Permanent Commission also approved dismissing the constitutional accusation against former Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister, current Congressman, Roberto Sanchez Palomino. This was one of the conclusions of the final report, and each conclusion was voted on separately.

It was specified that the accused obtained a Supreme Court ruling confirming that he had not participated in the events under investigation.

The recommendation to dismiss the constitutional complaint against Congressman Sanchez Palomino was approved with 14 votes in favor, 4 against, zero abstentions.

This leaves pending the vote on the conclusions of the report concerning Castillo and Huerta.

The final report must be submitted to Congress plenary session for debate and a concluding vote.

During the Permanent Commission session, there was a heated exchange of words between some parliamentarians and lawyer Raul Noblecilla, who defended Chavez.
