President Martin Vizcarra announced the new measures adopted by Peru as part of the state of national emergency declared in response to the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country.
The announcement was made on day 16 of the emergency response, which marked the beginning of its second phase. Below is a list of the main announcements:
2. On Monday, during the compulsory social immobilization, almost 3,000 people were arrested across the country. More than 36,000 people have been detained over the course of 16 days.
4. Qali Warma Program will support children who are most in need, that is, more than 1,100,000 minors. A total of 20,000 volunteers have joined the initiative to support at the start of the school year and to ensure coordination between the school feeding program and the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion.
Additionally, the Head of State reported that he has met with the representative of the South Korean Embassy to learn from such country's experience combating the virus, get technological support, and explore health procedures.
