Peru: Almost 400 former coronavirus patients discharged

A total of 394 patients diagnosed with coronavirus (COVID-19) have been cured and discharged since they rigorously remained socially isolated in their homes, Health Minister Víctor Zamora affirmed on Tuesday.

"This is very important because they, knowing themselves to be carriers of the virus, have strictly respected the indications of the Ministry of Health (Minsa), thus preventing other members of the community from contracting the virus, by isolating themselves from contact with others," Zamora said in press conference at the Government Palace.

As is known, the number of patients infected with coronavirus (COVID-19) rose to 1,065 in Peru as at Tuesday at 00:00 hours (local time), the Ministry of Health (Minsa) confirmed earlier today.

To date, confirmed cases have been reported in the capital city of Lima (799), followed by the regions: Loreto (58), Lambayeque (30), Cusco (26), Arequipa (26), Callao (25), Piura (21), La Libertad (19), Junin (17), Ancash (11), Tumbes (10), San Martin (6), Huanuco (6), Ica (5), Tacna (2), Ayacucho (1), Madre de Dios (1), Cajamarca (1), and Pasco (1).

Other 13,398 samples tested negative for COVID-19.

On the other hand, the death toll stands at 30.
