Peru: Inbound tourism to grow 10%, to generate over US$7 billion in revenue

00:00 | Lima, Jan. 15.

Inbound tourism in Peru is expected to increase 10% this year and, consequently, generate more than US$7 billion in revenue, Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Edgar Vasquez has projected.

"Peru has a lot to offer, and inbound tourism will grow by at least 10% this year. We are working with the private sector to achieve better results," he said.

In his speech at Expo Amazonica 2020 fair presentation, Vasquez noted that Peru is in fashion around the world as it is considered one of the world's leading cultural and gastronomic destinations, among others.

He also stressed that Lima and Arequipa were included in the lists of best cities to visit in the world this year.

The cabinet member stressed that inbound tourism in Peru is believed to have grown 6% in 2019.

"This was an important step forward, considering that the same sector fell 5% in Latin America. This shows that Peru remains an attractive travel destination," he added.
