The Consulate General of Peru in Houston was on Friday informed of the detention of Peruvian citizen Segundo Alejandro Sanchez Sanchez by Border Patrol in the State of Texas, United States, the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed.

In a press release, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that Sanchez Sanchez, who is wanted by Peruvian justice, was detained after attempting to irregularly cross the Mexican-U.S. border, in Eagle Pass.

The government agency reported that the aforementioned Peruvian national is currently at Del Rio Detention Center in Texas.

Likewise, the ministry indicated that it is engaged in coordination with the pertinent U.S. authorities to achieve his prompt expulsion to Peru, where he will face justice.

In November 2022, the Fourth Court of Preparatory Investigation ordered his pre-trial detention for 30 months. However, said measure could not be executed because Sanchez Sanchez was a fugitive from justice.
