Peruvian Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Peter Camino and his Japanese counterpart Ono Keiichi chaired the Third Meeting of the Peru-Japan Political Dialogue Mechanism held in Tokyo on Friday.

During the meeting, both government officials underscored the high level of the bilateral relationship.

Similarly, they addressed the main issues on the bilateral agenda, including trade, investments, and development cooperation.

A crucial element at the meeting was the beginning of consultations to craft a roadmap that deepens, strengthens, and projects the bilateral Strategic Partnership into the future.

Invitation to APEC 2024 forum

Deputy Minister Camino delivered invitations from Peruvian President Dina Boluarte addressed to Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida for him to participate in the APEC PERU 2024 Leaders' Summit and to make an official visit to the South American country in November.

Peru and Japan have been recognized as Strategic Partners since 2016.

Throughout this historic relationship, person-to-person and people-to-people ties have played a special role, based on the important Japanese migration to Peru, which this year celebrates its 125th anniversary.

As part of his visit to Tokyo, Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Camino inaugurated the commemorative exhibition titled "Remembrances," made up of photographs taken by Peruvian citizens residing in Japan, showing the diversity of their experiences throughout 35 years of Peruvian migration to the Asian country.

This exhibition is held at the "Machu Picchu" Auditorium of the Peruvian Embassy in Japan.

The dignitary highlighted the contribution of the Peruvian community in Japan —estimated at 50,000 people— in various sectors of the Japanese economy and as human bridges of our fraternal relationship with the host nation.
