Peru's total exports expanded 7.40% in October 2017 from the same month last year, underpinned by higher shipments of traditional (8.69%) and non-traditional (4.07%) products, National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) reported.

Based on information provided on November 29, the most demanded traditional products were those derived from mining such as copper, zinc, silver, lead, gold and petroleum derivatives.

Nevertheless, fishery and agricultural exports saw a decline.

As for non-traditional products, farming, textile, chemical, metal-mechanic, iron and steel, and non-metallic mining sectors stood out.

However, shipments of fishery products decreased.

Consumer goods

According to information released on November 26, consumer goods imports climbed 15.65% in October of the current year.

These were followed by imports of raw materials and intermediate products (11.59%), as well as capital goods and construction materials (2.02%).

It must be noted Peruvian total exports went up 9.54% last October, compared to the same month in 2016.

Government spending

Likewise, INEI informed Government spending and consumption rose 21.99% and 15.20% —respectively— in the analyzed month over the same period the year before.
