Peru's total exports expanded 30.98% in September 2017 over the same period last year, the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) informed on Wednesday.
Traditional exports expanded 41.47%, whereas non-traditional shipments increased 5.19% in the analyzed period, INEI stressed.
According to information released on October 29, traditional goods —which registered the greatest demand— belonged to the mining sector such
as: copper, zinc, iron,
gold, and tin. However, silver exports decreased.
Regarding the non-traditional sector, farming, fishing, chemical, metal-mechanic, as well as iron-and-steel products stood out.
Raw material imports
Based on information provided on October 29, imports of raw materials and intermediate products increased by 10.07% last September.
These were followed by imports of capital goods and construction materials (0.06%). However, consumer good imports decreased 1.62%.
The entity noted total imports rose 4.03% in September 2017 over the same month last year.
