Peruvian national soccer team captain Paolo Guerrero on Thursday addressed the press and reaffirmed his innocence in Zurich.

Minutes before, the striker defended himself before FIFA in response to the adverse analytical result of the anti-doping test conducted on him following a goalless draw against Argentina at the South American Qualifiers on October 5.

"I am calm because I am innocent; I came to Switzerland to prove my innocence. Thank God we were able to gather all the fundamental evidence. Now we have to wait for FIFA's verdict," Guerrero expressed.

"I am confident because I am innocent […]. Now the decision has to be made," he added.

After saying that the audience had taken four hours, the 33-year-old athlete confirmed cocaine consumption was ruled out.

"I'm solving my case; this is about my career. Before thinking about the World Cup, I want to get my career issues resolved because my life is about playing soccer. These 30 days [of provisional suspension] have pretty much cut my legs," he stated.

Guerrero concluded by saying his priority is to solve the case and then he "will see what's next."

Remarks were made after exercising his defense before FIFA's Disciplinary Committee, whose announcement on the case is expected for Monday.
