21:24 | Buenos Aires (Argentina), Oct. 5.

Peru's fans hold on to their World Cup dream after a goalless draw with Argentina on Thursday in Buenos Aires.

The Inca team had one of its best performances in the field during its penultimate FIFA World Cup qualifier at Boca's La Bombonera stadium.

Peru now ranks fifth (25 points) after having seen 7 triumphs, 4 draws and 6 defeats.

This way, the Peruvian squad is one step closer to directly qualify for Russia 2018.

As a result, the "Blanquiroja" (the red-and-white) and the "Albicelestes" (sky blue and whites) have both gained 1 point in their qualifying group.

It must be noted the Incas may qualify for Russia if they avoid defeat in their qualifier against Colombia.

Peru's final match will be held on October 10 at 6:30 PM (local time) in the capital city Lima.
