Peru's national soccer team on Thursday resumed training sessions focused on the upcoming friendly match against Sweden as preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia.

Coached by Ricardo Gareca, the red-white squad conducted physical and tactical exercises, although the latter took place behind closed doors.

On the occasion, goalkeepers Pedro Gallese, Carlos Caceda, and Jose Carvallo did the most demanding workouts.

The Peru-Sweden game is slated for June 9 in the city of Gothenburg at 6:15 PM (local time).

It must be noted this will be the Incas' last friendly match prior to its debut at the World Cup tournament.

As is known, Peru defeated its Saudi Arabian counterpart (3-0) last Sunday.

Said clash marked top striker Paolo Guerrero's return to the squad following the suspension of a 14-month ban imposed on him by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Yet the CAS decision has been temporarily lifted by the Swiss Federal Court.

The national team is expected to arrive in Moscow on June 10 to participate in FIFA's flagship event after 36 years.

Peru is placed in Group C, along with France, Denmark, and Australia.

The Peruvians' first match will be played against Denmark (June 16). Then, the Incas will clash with France (June 21) before facing Australia (June 26).
