Peruvian national soccer team on Sunday defeated its Saudi Arabian counterpart (3-0) in a preparatory game at AFG Arena towards the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia.
Although the Saudis were playing fast since the beginning, the Inca squad managed not only to catch up with their speed but also to dominate the entire game.
In the 13th minute, Peruvian forward
Andre Carrillo was able to sow fear when the Watford F.C. player made a shot which came close to hitting the counterpart's net.
Yet, he would have a second opportunity minutes later, once he received a flying ball from an opponent, which he —without allowing it to touch the ground— kicked and turned into the best goal of his career defending the red-white squad (20th minute).
Filled by Peruvian fans, the stadium became very excited and so did the players.
The party would not be over soon. Minutes later, midfielder Christian Cueva moved the ball to teammate Edison Flores, whose shot was blocked by the Saudi goalkeeper. However, it was captured by Peru's top striker Paolo Guerrero, who managed to score the second goal for the Incas (40th minute). The crowd cheered him on.
The first half ended with a partial victory for the Peruvians.
In the second half, the amazing Carrillo would enter the rival's area displaying his talent. He moved a flying ball to
Guerrero who headed it into the net (63rd minute), thus making his goal No. 34 wearing the red-white jersey.
In the end, the game marked the 14th consecutive victory Peruvians have seen.
Next, they will face Sweden in Gothenburg on June 9.
The red-white squad's first match will be played against Denmark (June 16). Then, the Incas will clash with France (June 21) before facing Australia (June 26).
