The Peruvian Government is developing a trade and tourism promotion strategy to harness advantages resulting from the Inca team's participation in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia, Peru's Trade Offices Abroad (Ocex) General Manager Teresa Mera said Wednesday.
Before Peru managed to
qualify for Russia 2018, many entrepreneurs had headed to the Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry to show their interest in promoting greater Peruvian products' presence in
said country, she recalled.
Trade
The Ocex official also highlighted that Russia is an attractive market for Peru's exporters, although these countries do not rely on a trade agreement.
Yet, she noted a Peruvian Trade Office is based in Moscow, whose commercial advisor covers the Russian and Turkish markets.
Opportunities
Mera explained Russian business opportunities are linked to fresh fruit and vegetable exports. Avocados, asparagus, grapes, tangerines and mangoes stand out within this framework.
Likewise, she noted canned capsicums, artichokes, coffee and cacao, as well as fishing products —prawns, giant squids and fish fillets— enjoy a great export potential in the Eurasian country.
Superfoods,
pisco and other national spirits were also mentioned in this sense.
Finally, she underscored Peruvian entrepreneurs can also find a niche in the
clothing industry.
