The visit of United States Leader Barack Obama on the occasion of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum's Summit in Lima this week represents the third visit of a US President to Peru.

President Obama will arrive in Lima on Saturday 19 aboard Air Force One, term used to refer to one of two highly-customized Boeing 747-200B airplanes.

Said aircraft is one of the most recognizable symbols of United States presidency. It has about 370 square meters of floor space over three levels.

The visit will be Mr. Obama's final foreign trip as President of the United States and will be succeeded by Republican President-elect Donald Trump in January 2017.

The Leader's agenda includes a meeting with Peruvian counterpart Pedro Pablo Kuczynski to address economic and trade matters within the framework of the APEC Summit.

Bush (2002 & 2008)

Peru previously welcomed former US President George W. Bush on November 21, 2008. The former Leader arrived in Lima to participate in the APEC Summit, hosted by the Inca nation for the first time.

Mr. Bush was joined by a large entourage composed of former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, as well as many other officials.

As part of his 3-day stay in Peru, Mr. Bush met with then-President Alan Garcia Perez.

President Bush was also the first US Leader to arrive in Peru for an official visit, in March 2002.

On said occasion, he was welcomed at Government Palace by former President Alejandro Toledo (2001-2006), whom he called a friend.

In his first visit to the Inca nation, Mr. Bush was joined by former First Lady Laura, as well as former Secretary of State Colin Powell.
