The US Embassy and UNICEF introduced today a female soccer program aimed at promoting social harmony in Peru.

A team composed of 25 female teenagers, next to the Female Soccer School USA-Peru, which is promoted by the Civil Association Sports for Integration and Social Change, officially kicked off the initiative.

It is aimed at promoting the social harmony through the practice of sports.

The youngsters, participating in this program, reside in La Victoria district. It is one of the most populous areas in the nation's capital. Those also study at the following public schools: Pedro A. Labarthe, Isabel La Católica and César Vallejo.

Some of these teenagers currently participate in the Yachay Program, attached to the Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations.
Yachay Program seeks to protect homeless children, so they can achieve their goals.

The soccer project, based on the UN Action Plan on Sport for Development and Peace, is supported by the US Embassy in Lima.
The program is provided technical advisory by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

The opening event started today at 10.30 A.M. (local time) at the Pedro A. Labarthe school, located in La Victoria district.
