Peru shines at South american race walking champs

Peruvian national athletic march team put the Andean nation on the spotlight after reaching six presences on the podium of the 18th South American Race Walking Championships, held in Cochabamba, Bolivia. The Peruvian delegation grabbed six medals (1 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze). The Andean nation's emerging talent Kimberly Garcia claimed the gold medal in the women's 20 km race walking by beating the top performers of this sport in the region.

Moreover, Peru's athlete Pavel Chihuan took the bronze in the men's 20km race walking. While Jessica Hacco wins the bronze medal in the women's 10 km category.

In turn, the race walkers representing the Andean nation, Cesar Rodriguez and Pedro Salazar, obtained the silver and bronze medals, respectively, in juniors men's 10 km.

Finally, Paolo Yurivilca also achieved his goal to medal in the event by adding a silver to the Peruvian score in the juniors men's 10 km.

The South american race walking champs took place in the Bolivian city of Cochabamba despite the event abnd counted towards the 2014 IAAF Race Walking Challenge.
