Complementary Municipal Elections will be held on May 26, 2024, in the districts of Pion and Ninabamba, both located in the Andean region of Cajamarca. Find out why this electoral process will be carried out only in these two jurisdictions.

In this regard, the National Electoral Processes Office (ONPE) stated that authorities in the above-mentioned districts could not be elected at the Complementary Municipal Elections held on July 2 last year.

This occurred due to different reasons, which were explained by the country's electoral body in a post on its account on X, formerly Twitter.

In Pion, more than a half of voters were absent from polling stations.

In the case of Ninabamba, there were no candidates running for the seats, not even in the primary.

"For this reason, primary elections were held by each political party on January 7 and 14 this year, in order to choose their candidates," ONPE added.

According to the publication, the results of said elections are available on the electoral body's website.

The 2024 Complementary Municipal Elections will be held on May 26 in both districts of Cajamarca region.
