The Tourist Protection Network continuously monitors the necessary measures to ensure the safety of domestic and foreign travelers following the temporary suspension of the Machu Picchu Inca Trail Network, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) stated.

Due to heavy rains, the Ministry of Culture (Mincul) temporarily suspended access to the aforementioned network of tourist trails.

The reported incidents include landslides, swollen streams, flooding, and damage to infrastructure in the areas of Llulluchapampa, Ayapata, Paqaymayu Alto, Soqtacocha, Yuncachimpa, Qonchamarka, Wayllabamba, Pawkarcancha, Cusichaka, Phuyupatamarka, and Wiñaywayna.

Mincetur recommends that visitors and tour operators obtain information through the free Tourist Information and Assistance Service – iPeru at (+51) 1 574 8000 or (+51) 944492314 (via WhatsApp), comply with safety provisions, and follow the instructions of the authorities.

"The tourism sector will continue monitoring the situation and strengthening interinstitutional coordination to ensure a timely response and prioritize the safety of our visitors at all times," Mincetur emphasized.
