Tacna marks 84th anniversary of reincorporation into Peruvian sovereignty

Peruvians living in southern region of Tacna are celebrating its 84th anniversary of their city's reinstatement to Peruvian sovereignty, after the War of the Pacific.
The activities started at 06:00 hours and was attended by President of the Council of Ministers, Juan Jimenez, Minister of Defense, Pedro Cateriano and congress members Natalie Condori and Juan Pari. 

The celebration featured "Paseo de la Bandera," a traditional civic parade, and cultural activities, food festivals and contests.

Authorities in Tacna expects to attract 3,500 people, among foreign and domestic tourists, during the festivity.

Tacna celebrates its anniversary on August 28 every year. Tacna returned to Peru in 1929 after Chile claimed it in the aftermath of the War of the Pacific.
