The Embassy of Switzerland in Peru has donated a batch of 250,000 surgical masks to the Peruvian National Police (PNP) in order to support its public safety efforts in the face of the health emergency situation caused by COVID-19.

According to Interior Minister Jose Elice, this important donation confirms the continued, always strong, and supportive cooperation of the Swiss Confederation with Peru.

"This is a symbolic moment, as the Swiss Confederation has never lowered its arms to cooperate, as well as consolidate and maintain a strong relationship with our country," the minister said.

In addition, Elice highlighted the Police Health Directorate's work and efforts, as well as the National Police Command's leadership, for having succeeded in preventing COVID-19 from spreading within the institution.

The ceremony saw the presence of Swiss Ambassador to Peru Markus-Alexander Antonietti, Minister-Counselor Hugo Coronel —in his capacity as representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs— and General Commander of the National Police Cesar Cervantes, among other authorities.
