"We are saddened to announce the passing of Oscar Carrillo Vertiz, a prominent Peruvian actor of theater, film, and television, whose career left an invaluable mark on the country's performing arts," the government agency stated on social media Thursday evening.

He also worked as a television and theater director. In 2021, he directed "Rosmary y el Libertador," written by Eduardo Adrianzen and produced by the Gran Teatro Nacional.

On television, he appeared in "Bolero," "Los Unos y los Otros," "Tribus de la Calle," "Eva del Eden," "La Perricholi," "Grau, Caballero de los Mares," and "Tu Nombre y el Mio."

On stage, he performed in "La Vida es Sueño," "Qoillor Ritti," "Julio Cesar," "Jarana," and "Un Misterio, una Pasion."

The Culture sector extends its condolences to his family, friends, and the cultural community, which "today bids farewell to a leading figure of Peruvian theater."
