Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru (PUCP) has been named the top university in Peru, according to the tenth edition of the
QS World University Rankings by Subject.
The results see the Lima-based high-level educational institution rank in 10 of the 48 subject tables released by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).
QS's dataset provides independent information about the performance of 12 Peruvian university programs —one more than in
last year's edition of the rankings— at three of the country's universities.
Of Peru's twelve ranked programs, two have improved their performance, while two have dropped in rank.
Besides, six remain stable within their category, and two are new entrants this year.
Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru's Art & Design program is a new entrant into this year's rankings, placing in the global top-200 (151-200 band). The other 9 subjects in which PUCP was ranked are Archaeology, Business & Management Studies, Computer Science & Information Systems, Economics & Econometrics, Law, Linguistics, Modern Languages, Physics & Astronomy, and Sociology.
According to 44,000 employers surveyed by QS, Peru's best graduates are produced by said university's Sociology program, which receives a nation-leading score of 76/100 for QS's Employer Reputation indicator.
On the other hand,
Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina ranks in the 251-300 category for Agriculture & Forestry and Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia is globally-ranked for the study of Medicine (301-350 band).
According to QS's research metrics,
Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia's Medicine department offers Peru's top higher education research program. It achieves a nation-leading score of 71.1/100 for QS's Citations per Paper indicator.
Compiled by global higher education analysts QS Quacquarelli Symonds, the rankings provide authoritative comparative analysis on the performance of 13,138 individual university programs, taken by students at 1368 universities which can be found in 83 locations across the world, across 48 academic disciplines and 5 broad Faculty Areas.
