Peruvian President Pedro Castillo and his Colombian counterpart Ivan Duque on Thursday afternoon opened the 6th Binational Cabinet in the city of Villa de Leyva.

Representing the Peruvian side, Cabinet Chief Mirtha Vasquez, Foreign Affairs Minister Oscar Maurtua, and other State ministers participate in the event.

On this occasion, President Duque called for continuing to build projects of common benefit for both countries, as well as to strengthen the historical and fraternal relations between both nations.

Binational Cabinets constitute a space for political-diplomatic coordination at the highest level in which presidents, as well as State ministers and officials from various sectors, participate.

These meetings are held annually and alternately in each country, although they were temporarily suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The last cabinet with Colombia was held in August 2019.
