The President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, on Thursday stated that her government is making steady progress in building a more integrated, accessible, and competitive country, where inclusion and hope prevail.
Remarks were made during her participation in the signing ceremony of the security and guarantee contracts for the Longitudinal of the Sierra Project, Section 4.
This road project spans 965 kilometers and aims to improve the quality of life of 1.6 million people in Junin, Huancavelica, Ayacucho, Apurimac, and Ica regions.
Regarding this, the President detailed that 1,400 direct and over 4,000 indirect jobs will be created during the execution of the project, which will connect Junin, Huancavelica, Ayacucho, Apurimac, and Ica regions.
Additionally, once completed, travel times among the five regions will be reduced by 30%.
"The Longitudinal of the Sierra, Section 4, is a bridge to a more connected, more inclusive Peru, with greater development capacity and sustainability; (it is) a bridge toward the progress of our homeland," Mrs. Boluarte emphasized.
The project is part of a portfolio of 21 road works worth over US$7.3 billion, which will be awarded during the 2025–2026 period.
In this regard, the top official reaffirmed her government's unwavering commitment to unblock projects and work toward connectivity, accessibility, and road safety.
"Our sole objective is to build a country with vision and development, a country that must be for all Peruvians, without any distinction. And we will continue working until the very last minute of July 28, 2026," she asserted.
The Head of State said her government guarantees economic stability, highlighting months of continuous growth.
"With the Executive and with that coordinating arm of governors and mayors, we will continue striving for a Peru different from the one we inherited—a better Peru, a united Peru without violence, because violence is never good, no matter where it comes from," she expressed.
