President Martin Vizcarra on Monday participated in the ceremony to commemorate the Peruvian Army Day and the 195th Anniversary of the Battle of Ayacucho.
The Peruvian Army Day was established by Supreme Resolution on September 18, 1928, following the triumph of the Peruvian battalion over Spanish forces in the
Battle of Ayacucho occurred in 1824. It consolidated the Independence of Peru.
The Head of State was joined by Defense Minister Walter Martos, Army General Commander Jorge Celiz Kuong, as well as other civil and military authorities.
The event was held at Mariscal Caceres Square located inside the Army Headquarters in Lima's San Borja district.
