The President of the Republic Martin Vizcarra on Thursday affirmed that closing gaps in the education and health sectors is a main goal in Peru.

"We are fulfilling the government's objective of closing gaps; the hardest and most complex issue to face as a country is the difference in the care provided to citizens who are equal. Some have access to good education and health, but others don't," he expressed.

"We have to close those gaps, that is the main objective," he added.

Likewise, the Head of State remarked that one million tablets are being purchased for school students

Concerning the health sector, the top official highlighted the launch of the National Telemedicine Center —the most modern in the region, which will serve between 90,000 and 100,000 patients per month, thus meaning more than one million each year.

According to the statesman, putting technology and medical specialties at the service of the population is an objective in the country.

"(…) the country should aim to close gaps, try to ensure that Peruvians have the same access to health care possibilities," he emphasized.

According to Mr. Vizcarra, technology will make it possible to offset the lack of specialized professional personnel in the sector.

Remarks were made during the supervision of the start-up of the National Telemedicine Center.

He was also able to talk with patients treated in other regions.
