President: Peru's COVID-19 cases reached the peak, decline begins

President Martin Vizcarra on Wednesday affirmed that COVID-19 cases have reached the peak in Peru and that the expected decline starts.

The Head of State said this situation is reflected in the analyses made by the Government, as well as by private and independent researchers from Peru and different scientific guilds around the world.




Furthermore, the statesman noted that an additional effort has been made to increase the hospital supply for the care demand.

To date, there are more than 1,000 beds at ICUs, he added.

It must be noted President Vizcarra also reaffirmed his confidence in Health Minister Victor Zamora.



On this occasion, the President was joined by members of the Council of Ministers. The event was held at the Government Palace in Lima.

Wednesday marks the fifty-ninth day of mandatory social isolation.
