oversaw a search operation at El Milagro Prison in La Libertad region, northern Peru, as part of the government's efforts to crack down on criminal activities orchestrated from inside the facility.
"The security forces carried out a search at the penitentiary center with the aim of delivering a forceful blow to criminal operations such as contract killings and extortion orchestrated from inside the prison," the Presidential Office reported via social media.
The extraordinary search operation was led by Ministers Cesar Diaz (Defense) and Walter Martinez Laura (Justice-Human Rights).
The deployment at the penitentiary center included the participation of 100 Army personnel from the 32nd Infantry Brigade, who provided decisive support in carrying out the operation.
They were joined by 150 Peruvian National Police officers and 70 agents from the National Penitentiary Institute (INPE), forming a highly trained intervention team to enter the most dangerous areas of the facility.
As a result of this search, various prohibited items were found, including clandestine wiring, irregular plugs, mirrors that could potentially be used as sharp objects, as well as coca paste and other illegal substances.
