participated on Thursday in the 21st Thanksgiving for Peru Ceremony as part of the activities marking Independence Day celebrations in July.
Prime Minister Luis Galarreta, Senate Chairman Miguel Torres, and Cabinet members attended the event as well.
Representatives of Peru's Evangelical Christian churches were in attendance.
Also present at the ceremony were Chamber of Deputies Chairman Oscar Reto, Ombudsman Josue Gutierrez, senators and deputies, mayors from various parts of the country, U.S. Ambassador to Peru Bernie Navarro, as well as evangelical pastors and leaders.
The sermon was delivered by Pastor Miguel Angel Bardales, who emphasized the need for a nation with security and hope, a government that listens to those who have no voice, and justice in Peru.
"Madam President, you have reached this day after a long journey of sacrifice, and we all recognize that. But today is not the end—it is the beginning of a stewardship, because authority is delegated by God," Bardales stated.
"Ladies and gentlemen, deputies and senators, you are here because you have earned the trust of the people, and before God, that trust becomes a stewardship," he added.
The pastor also emphasized the need for a national dialogue to forgive the past and build a dignified future for everyone in Peru.
Later, Pastor Humberto Lay Sun led the prayer for Peru.
During the prayer, wisdom was sought for the country's current leaders and authorities as they face major challenges and make the right decisions to achieve social peace and address its most pressing problems.
At the end of the ceremony, the Head of State was presented with a Bible.
The ceremony was held at the International Charismatic Mission church in Lima's Lince district.
The Thanksgiving for Peru Ceremony, organized by the country's evangelical churches, is part of the official Independence Day celebrations under the provisions of Supreme Decree No. 030-2018-PCM.
