The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Friday invited entrepreneurs to continue investing in Peru and assured them he leads a Government "of openness and trust."

"Economic growth must be balanced with development," he added.

The Head of State participated this morning in a working breakfast with representatives of the Chilean-Peruvian Chamber of Commerce and the Chilean-Peruvian Business Council —as part of his activities in the neighboring country.

"Let's continue investing in the country; we are a Government of openness and trust; we have not come to scare away capital; on the contrary, we call for greater investment," he emphasized.

Before the businesspeople who participated in the meeting, he said that some ghosts have been created about his administration. The top official deemed them as untrue.

"We are more than democratic; we are citizens from the people who have seen the peoples develop; we want economic growth to be balanced with the development of the country," he noted.

Likewise, the Head of State welcomed the work and efforts by entrepreneurs to invest inside and outside Peru. Moreover, he urged them to continue developing companies.

Chile-Peru investments

Chile is Peru's second-largest trading partner in Latin America. Bilateral trade amounted to US$3.005 billion in 2021.

Meanwhile, as of December of that same year, Chile's foreign direct investment in Peru amounted to US$3.579 billion, holding the third position in the ranking of investment received by the country.

President Castillo will participate today in the inauguration ceremony of President-elect Gabriel Boric, which will take place at the National Congress headquarters in the city of Valparaiso.
