The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Thursday invited her counterpart from the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, to pay an official visit to Peru as part of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Meeting scheduled for November next year.

The invitation was extended during a bilateral meeting held within the framework of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Week currently underway in San Francisco, United States.

At today's gathering, the Head of State highlighted that precisely the inauguration of the first phase of the Chancay megaport —a Peruvian-Chinese investment that is expected to provide a significant boost to free trade and to new Chinese investments— is slated for November 2024.

During this meeting, the two dignitaries expressed their willingness to continue to strengthen the bilateral relations and support, as well as economic cooperation, and the exploration of opportunities in projects within the fields of health, digital economy, trade, energy, mining, tourism, and culture.

Moreover, the presidents discussed the Chinese "Belt and Road Initiative," which involves the construction of infrastructure for international trade.

It should be noted that President Xi Jinping wants the initiative to be high-quality and green, while President Boluarte showed interest in Peru's involvement.
