In another gesture of affection and closeness toward Peru, Pope Leo XIV received a group of representatives from the Lord of Miracles brotherhoods during the general audience held on October 22 at St. Peter’s Square.
The meeting was made possible through the efforts of the Embassy of Peru before the Holy See, with support from the Consulate General of Peru in Rome.
During the encounter, devotees of the Cristo Moreno, who traveled from various cities around the world, gave as a present to the pope with a miniature replica of the Lord of Miracles’ processional platform.
The gift served as a gesture of gratitude for his support and attention during the prior weekend’s celebrations.
With this audience, a week of major activities honoring the Christ of Pachacamilla came to a close.
The program included a large procession on October 18 and 19 through the streets of Rome and St. Peter’s Square, a papal blessing during the Angelus prayer, and a Holy Mass celebrated by Cardinal Pedro Barreto inside St. Peter’s Basilica.

Thousands of devote people, representing Peruvian communities from more than 55 cities worldwide, took part in the celebrations in Rome and Vatican City.
Following the events, dozens of brotherhood representatives visited the Embassy of Peru before the Holy See, in order to express their appreciation for the organizational support that made the international procession possible.
Brotherhood leaders also extended thanks to the diplomatic personnel of Peru’s missions in Rome, who contributed to this initiative that began in October 2024.
