PM Otarola: Meetings in Brazil to promote Peru's positioning in region

Peruvian Prime Minister Alberto Otarola described the meetings held on May 29-30 in Brazil, within the framework of the Presidential Summit of South American Countries, as auspicious.

"We are absolutely sure that these meetings will promote a second phase of the country’s positioning and leadership that we have always had in South America," Otarola said in statements to Canal N.

Likewise, he highlighted the meeting held with Presidents Gabriel Boric (Chile), Guillermo Lasso (Ecuador), and Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (Brazil).

The Cabinet chief affirmed that the audience with Lasso was very pleasing, referring to him as a friend of Peru.

Furthermore, the Peruvian government official stated that the meeting with Boric addressed the common agenda, trade, and investments.

On the other hand, he met with Lula to talk about the environment, the Amazon and the need to protect said area together, as well as the fight against illegal mining and drug trafficking.

Also, the head of the Ministerial Cabinet remarked that a summit of South American countries is expected to take place soon in order to assess the migratory issue and international crime

Moreover, he underscored that Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Ana Cecilia Gervasi has risen to the occasion, always defending and raising high the name of our beloved Peru.
