Otarola, Lasso agree Peru must receive Pacific Alliance Pro-Tempore Presidency

Peruvian Prime Minister Alberto Otarola met with Ecuadorian President Guillermo Lasso, with whom he agreed on the need for Peru to receive the Pro-Tempore Presidency of the Pacific Alliance, in order to promote this regional integration initiative again.

During the meeting, Otarola shared the efforts made by the Government of President Dina Boluarte in order to restore peace and tranquility for 33 million Peruvians.

"Stability creates better conditions to attract more foreign investment and implement trade bonds among countries," he added.
 
For his part, the Ecuadorian top dignitary expressed his interest to pay an official visit to Peru soon, with the aim of generating binational agreements between both brother countries.

During the meeting, which also included Peru's Foreign Affairs Minister Ana Cecilia Gervasi and her Ecuadorian counterpart Gustavo Manrique, the authorities agreed to inaugurate a new Binational Border Assistance Center (CEBAF) service module in the Ecuadorian city of Macara.

This will help provide a better service so as to control the flow of people, baggage, goods, and vehicles between the two countries.


Meeting with Brazilian State Ministers

Moreover, the Peruvian Ministerial Cabinet head held a meeting with Brazil’s Foreign Affairs Minister Mauro Vieira.

During the audience, they addressed the bilateral agenda, which prioritizes the integration of borders, cooperation, trade, as well as security and defense actions.

They also stressed the importance of presidential meetings and the Meeting of State Parties to the Amazon Cooperation Treaty.

Furthermore, the officials discussed the actions promoted by the Peruvian Government to preserve democracy, revive the economy, and maintain social peace.

"The Head of State is currently looking for a legal formula to leave the country to personally promote the country's foreign policy," Otarola said.

The Cabinet chief expressed to the Brazilian authority the President Boluarte's desire to attend the Belém do Pará Convention to strengthen and make visible the fight of the Peruvian Government against violence against women.

Earlier on Monday, he met with Brazil's Environment and Climate Change Minister Marina Silva, to whom he conveyed the Peruvian Government's commitment to protect the Amazon.
