The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reported that a meeting between Peruvian President Dina Boluarte and United States counterpart Joe Biden took place this Friday, although "without the protocol that characterizes bilateral meetings."

According to a communiqué, this bilateral meeting between both leaders "was confirmed on October 30 by the White House and reconfirmed as of last night, November 2."

"This (gathering) was not held under the protocol that characterizes bilateral meetings because, following the meeting of all presidents and their delegations with the Secretary of the Treasury of the United States, in accordance with the agenda, time fell short," the release indicated.

"However, prior to the Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity (APEP) Summit meeting today, November 3, President Boluarte and President Biden were able to talk about issues that interest both countries, such as migration and the fight against drug trafficking, among others," it added.

After that conversation, both top officials walked together towards the White House auditorium where the APEP Summit was held. At the site, the other presidents and delegations were already waiting for them.

According to the document, the participation of President Dina Boluarte in the APEP Summit —which included an investment forum and bilateral meetings with leaders, plus gatherings with businessmen, as well as a meeting of presidents with the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, Janet Yellen— "allowed us to present Peru as a stable country and a reliable partner for investments."

"(...) in addition to reinforcing the country in regional integration processes and further strengthening our ties with the United States," the communiqué concluded.
