Quinoa was the product most demanded by buyers from the United States at Superfoods Matchmaking —a virtual business round that gathered processed, functional, and organic products, Peru's Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) reported on Tuesday.
The event saw the participation of 10 exporters from Lima and Ayacucho region, who were initially supposed to attend the Expo West Fair in the city of Anaheim (U.S.). However, it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
These exporters held 57 business meetings with 14 buyers from the States of California, Florida, and New Jersey.
In addition to Andean grains, sacha inchi and maca were the other products offered at the virtual business event.
As a result of the online business rounds —held on June 1-5— deals worth US$1.5 million are expected.
The buyers showed great interest in the food offer and requested information as well as samples, confirming that the trend for healthy products remains in place.
