Peruvian MFIs: Fin Min's continuation in office to speed up economic recovery

01:30 | Lima, Jul. 16.

The continuation in office of Economy and Finance Minister Maria Antonieta Alva will contribute to accelerating the economic recovery in the current COVID-19 pandemic situation, the Association of Microfinance Institutions of Peru (Asomif) affirmed.

"She (the minister) is familiar with the country's problems. Besides, she will provide continuity and speed up all economic recovery-related issues," Asomif Chairman Jorge Delgado said.

According to Delgado, Alva's continuation in the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) constitutes a wise decision because she does her job accordingly.

Maria Antonieta Alva was ratified in her position on Wednesday during a swearing-in ceremony of the new Cabinet members, held at the Government Palace in Lima.

The Asomif head stated that the ministerial changes have reinvigorated the Cabinet and predicted that they (the ministers) will continue working on the country's economic reactivation.

He went on to recall that some of the new ministers had been deputy ministers, and that the new ministry heads will quickly adjust so as to work in favor of the recovery.

"Now everyone is expected to go back to work in order to boost (the economy) and continue to support the country's needs," Delgado pointed out.
