Peru's year-on-year inflation falls for eighth straight month in Sept 2023

Peru's year-on-year inflation decreased from 5.5% in August to 5.04% in September, the lowest rate over the past 25 months, the Central Reserve Bank (BCR) has reported.

Thus, the rate of change fell for the eighth month in a row, after it stood at 8.66% in January.

In September, monthly inflation in Metropolitan Lima was 0.02%.

Meanwhile, the monthly inflation rate without food and energy stood at 0.13% in September, which means that the inflation rate over the last 12 months fell from 3.81% in August to 3.61% in the ninth month of this year.

In September, price increases with the greatest positive contribution to inflation were recorded in the categories of citrus fruits (35.5%), food away from home (0.4%), and local transportation (0.6%).

On the contrary, price decreases with the greatest incidence on inflation were recorded in chicken meat (7.9%), vegetables (16.1%) and fish (12.8%), according to the BCR.
