National Elections Board (JNE) spokesman Jorge Valdivia announced on Wednesday that the proclamation of the 2026 General Election runoff results is scheduled for July 3 at 11:00 a.m. (local time), once all Special Electoral Boards (JEEs) have completed announcing their results.

"It is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. The media will be duly informed so they can attend this very important event. (...) The political organizations that participated in this presidential runoff, their legal representatives, the candidates, and certain guests of their choosing will be invited to this major event," Valdivia told Andina News Agency.

"(...) The results proclamation ceremony is then held," he added.

ith 100% of ballots counted by the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE), Popular Force Party candidate Keiko Fujimori secured 50.135% of the vote.

Meanwhile, Together for Peru Party candidate Roberto Sanchez received 49.865%.

Given these results, Fujimori becomes the winner of the presidential runoff held on June 7.

Credential presentation

Regarding the presentation of credentials to the winning presidential ticket, Valdivia noted that the formal ceremony will be held on July 15 at the Lima-based National Grand Theater, due to the venue's availability.

He explained that, once the results have been proclaimed, political organizations will be able to access the credentials electronically, while the official ceremony will take place on the scheduled date.

The spokesman explained that the electoral process will conclude once the JNE's plenary issues the resolution declaring it complete, after reviewing the reports submitted by the Special Electoral Boards.

"The electoral process will conclude once the JNE’s plenary issues the resolution declaring the process complete. (...) That will take place after reviewing the reports submitted by the Special Electoral Boards (JEEs). Once that is done, the JNE's plenary issues a resolution declaring the electoral process complete," he added.

Popular Renewal Party case

At another point, the JNE official addressed the ruling declaring inadmissible the candidacy of former Mayor and ex-presidential candidate Rafael Lopez Aliaga as the lead councilor on Renewal Popular Party's slate for the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima.

"Any ruling issued by the JEEs may be appealed before the JNE's plenary, which, as the second and final instance, has the final say," Valdivia stated.

He also noted that the political organization has three days to file an appeal, which must meet the established requirements, including payment of the corresponding fee and the signatures of its legal representative and a licensed attorney.

The appeal must include the grounds on which it is based.

2026 regional and municipal elections

Finally, the JNE spokesman reminded citizens that the lists admitted for the 2026 Regional and Municipal Elections will be published on August 5.

Afterwards, the period for challenges and candidate disqualifications will begin.

Valdivia added that the JEEs will have until August 20 to rule on these cases at first instance, while the JNE's plenary will decide any appeals by September 4.

The final candidate lists will be registered on September 5.
