13:00 | Washington D.C. (U.S.), Apr. 12.

Peru's Central Reserve Bank (BCR) Governor Julio Velarde presided over the G-24 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors' Meeting during the IMF and World Bank Spring Meetings.

This year's Spring Meetings events take place in Washington, D.C. on April 8-14, 2019.

Participants have analyzed global economic prospects (placing emphasis on trade tensions between the United States and China), as well as the global financial security network, and the resource mobilization in favor of the poorest countries (mainly through the strengthening of the IMF and WB financial capacity).

The G-24 meeting also addresses environmental sustainability, policies to fight corruption and illicit capital flows, as well as matters of international taxation.

Chair of the G-24

The G-24 was established in 1971 by the Group of 77 (G-77) and is made up of representatives of three regional groups: Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

Its objective is to help developed and emerging countries agree on topics related to monetary, financial, and development policies.

G-24's principal meetings take place during the IMF and World Bank Spring (April) and Annual (October) meetings.
