Peru's Tejeda wins Mexico City Marathon

Peruvian Gladys Tejeda ended first at the Maratón TELCEL Ciudad de México, an International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) Bronze Label Road Race, on Sunday.

The 31-year-old runner crossed the line with a time of 2:36.16, thus grabbing gold medal for the second time at such event.

Coached by Mexican Rodolfo Gomez, Tejeda broke her own record (2:37.34), registered at the 31st edition on August 23, 2013.

The Mexico City Marathon is characterized by its top-performing runners from all over the world.

In this sense, Ethiopian Ashete Bekere (second at 2017 Seoul International Marathon) and Kenyan Mirriam Wangari (third at the 19th Nagano Marathon) were some of the athletes Tejeda managed to defeat.
