The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Saturday reiterated that he will continue fighting social injustice, hunger, and discrimination because his administration has come to make a great change.

During the event "Culture unites us: 242nd Anniversary of the Tupac Amaru II and Micaela Bastidas' Rebellion," the Head of State underscored the efforts by Jose Gabriel Condorcanqui (Tupac Amaru II) and indicated that he will follow his example.

"We have come to the Government so that we do not remain the same, but so that everything changes, to make the major change that Peru urges and demands nowadays," he expressed.

Using a metaphor, the top official said he fights an unequal battle like the Cusco region martyr did in the 18th Century. Yet Mr. Castillo was confident in overcoming and defeating the enemies of change, the conservatives, and reactionaries.

The top official warned that opponents intend to vanquish him with disinformation, false accusations, and unimaginable slander, so that he quits the will for change needed by the nation and —instead— accepts the power of those who dislike humble citizens.

"Here, following your example, father Tupac Amaru and mother Micaela Bastidas, your beloved companion, you will have me (in office) until the last day of my mandate because my people have decided so," he underlined.

Today's ceremony was held at the Government Palace Courtyard of Honor.

On this occasion, the Head of State was joined by Cabinet Chief Anibal Torres, as well as Ministers Betssy Chavez (Culture), Alejandro Salas (Labor), and Roberto Sanchez (Foreign Trade-Tourism).
