The President of the Republic Francisco Sagasti on Tuesday affirmed that vaccinators, who fail to comply with the protocols established to immunize people against COVID-19, will be severely punished as that is an act which must not be allowed in Peru.

When asked about the cases reported by relatives of some senior citizens, the Head of State said this is extremely worrying, deeming those acts as "a type of deception that should not be allowed, and could even be criminal."

"In the cases, in which that is not fulfilled, we will be extremely severe; the minister has already announced a thorough investigation. We will make sure that it does not happen again by imposing an exemplary sanction to those responsible," he affirmed.

Known as "air vaccines" the cases are a clear violation of the Health Ministry's protocol, the statesman emphasized, saying that "any vaccinator —who has breached the protocol or attempted to commit this misdeed— will be severely punished."

In addition to the investigation of the Ministry of Health, the Peruvian leader indicated that the issue is analyzed by the Comptroller's Office and the justice administration system.

"We are the most interested in strictly enforcing the protocol, and we will sanction those who have not done so," he promised.

On the occasion, the President was joined by Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez and Health Minister Oscar Ugarte.
