on Thursday called on regional governors to put the most urgent issues on the agenda as he reiterated his commitment to make progress on this task and achieve a true decentralization.
During the executive meeting titled "Consolidating territorial agendas," the Head of State affirmed it is appropriate for the central government and regional ones to speak the same language so as to attend to the homeland's most urgent needs, such as public health and the return to face-to-face classes.
According to the top official, the Decentralization Law should not only be on paper or on speeches but must become a reality —something that is framed in the axes which guide this administration.
After referring that this political and technical meeting must also be held in regions, the president reminded attendees that he has instructed ministers to visit regions, leave their desks, as well as open the doors and spaces to governors, who bring with them the real needs faced by their peoples.
"I urge the Cabinet not to think about friendships but about responsibilities," said Mr. Castillo, who stressed that the population elected this government to work transparently and honestly.
Furthermore, he reminded governors that ministers are constantly being evaluated.
He also mentioned that the Council of Ministers on Wednesday approved a bill on flagrancy so as to toughen some penalties and better combat crime.
