02:00 | Lima, Jul. 28.

The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte will deliver an Address to the Nation today on the occasion of Peru's 203rd Independence Anniversary.

The event will take place at Congress headquarters minutes after 11:00 a.m. (local time).

Within this framework, the top official's message is expected to inform citizens about the state of the country and issue main announcements for the coming year exercising power.

It will be the second annual speech on such a date delivered by Mrs. Boluarte, who assumed the Presidency of the Republic on December 7, 2022.

The Presidential Independence Day Speech is —without any doubt— the most important activity on the occasion.

Independence Day

Liberator Jose de San Martin proclaimed the independence of Peru from Spain on July 28, 1821.

Thus, this day serves to commemorate the nation's independence.

The independence process successfully came to an end with the Battle of Ayacucho in December 1824.
