Peru's President receives two recently acquired Hercules aircraft

President Francisco Sagasti on Monday afternoon participated in a ceremony to receive two KC-130H Hercules aircraft acquired from Spain, which will augment Peruvian Air Force's airlift capacity for personnel and cargo.

The activity took place at the Callao Air Base and included the participation of Defense Minister Nuria Esparch, as well as General Commander of the Peruvian Air Force, Air General Rodolfo Pereyra Cuneo, among other authorities.

These aircraft will help increase the response capacity to face the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, by transporting vaccines and health workers around the country, as well as facilitating the vaccination process.

Each of these aircraft has been upgraded and can carry 20 tons of cargo as well as transport 92 passengers.

They are also capable of airlifting 64 paratroopers and can even refuel other aircraft in the air as a tanker. 

The KC-130H Hercules aircraft have four turboprop engines each and are pressurized.

These aircraft may meet other requirements of State institutions, such as bringing social programs closer to the most remote areas in the country, dealing with emergencies caused by natural disasters, or conducting aeromedical evacuations.

Another of mission that the KC-130H Hercules aircraft may perform has to do with the support to the upcoming electoral process, by transporting the electoral material and assigned personnel.
