Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Tuesday delivered electronic devices (tablets) to students and teachers at Educational Institution No. 10419, located in Marcopampa population center, in Chota Province (Cajamarca region).
The activity took place as part of a strategy promoted by the Government in order to bridge the digital gap in the country.
During the event, the Head of State was joined by Education Minister Martin Benavides.
These tablets include 37 apps, more than 3,000 educational contents, and learning experiences for Regular Basic Education, Intercultural Bilingual Education, and Special Education.
The distribution begins with the delivery of 15,000 tablets to students and teachers from rural educational institutions in the regions of Cajamarca, Amazonas, Loreto, Ucayali, Madre de Dios, San Martin, Puno, Cusco, Apurimac, Pasco, Huanuco, Junin, Huancavelica, and Ayacucho.
The delivery of tablets is part of a technical-pedagogical proposal and a comprehensive solution for the following three years.
Last week, the Peruvian leader disclosed that the Ministry of Education would distribute tablets to citizens in distant locations starting this week, so as to close the gap between urban areas —with access to technology— and remote areas.
"The best legacy we can leave our children and grandchildren is a good education, and that is why we must bridge the gap between urban and rural education," he said on that occasion.
