Peru's President participates in Air Force Day ceremony

The President of the Republic Francisco Sagasti on Friday participated in the ceremony to commemorate the Day of the Peruvian Air Force and the 80th anniversary of the self-sacrifice of national hero Air Force Captain Jose Abelardo Quiñones.

On the occasion, the Head of State was joined by Defense Minister Nuria Esparch, outgoing Congress Chairwoman Mirtha Vasquez, and high-ranking Air Force officers.

The event took place at Las Palmas Air Base in Lima's Surco district.

As is known, Mr. Sagasti —who took office in November 2020 to lead the Transition and Emergency Government— is set to leave office on July 28, 2021.
